Brooklyn Blocked Driveways
IMAGINE TRYING TO GO TO WORK AND ON THE WAY OUT, SOMEONE HAS BLOCKED YOUR DRIVEWAY OR TRYING TO RETURN FROM WORK AND CAN'T ENTER YOUR DRIVEWAY BECAUSE SOMEONE HAS PARKED IN YOUR DRIVEWAY UNAUTHORIZED. THIS IS A CONSTANT PROBLEM IN THE BOROUGH OF BROOKLYN.
(1). Go to the vehicle thats blocking and write down on a piece of paper the license plate number, the color and the make of vehicle. (2). Call 311 operator and listen to the recording till it says reason for calling: say blocked driveway and a live operator will take your complaint, then you will recieve a complaint number. (3) The police will be notified by the 311 operator and will enventually come down and give the violator a summons. This process can take minutes or hours depending if there is no emergency in affect. (4) You can call the 311 operator a second time and give them your complaint number if it takes to long and you develop an emergency to go, then they may enter it as a a preference call. You can also stop a local police car from your precint and ask them nicely to please issue a summons at their discretion. Many times this works. (5). Once ticket is on the windshield immediately call Louie Towing so I can dispatch a truck to remove the intruder. (6) The owner of the illegally parked car will have to pay the tow fee to get his car back. If you desire to give the violater our phone number you may otherwise,he can find out from the local police station. (7). The most important thing is to try not to have a confrontation with the people that are blocking your drive way. You can tell them nicely not to park in your drive way and if they disobey you can start from step one of this paragraph. (8). Down below a list of telephonenumbers according to your neighborhood if you need to call them direct.

Sometimes your vehicle could be towed away because: Expired inspection or regestrastion, parked on bus stop, no parking anytime, fire hydrant, school, church, hospital, federal building, fire house, street closure, construction site, block party, relocate, repo and differnt events.
IMPORTANT remember that if the violator removes his own summons from his own car in the driveway then the tow company is unable to remove the violators car. When confronted with these abusive neighbors it has been told me by customers what they have done: EXAMPLE violator removes summons so he can stay over night or all day. home owners can have the car resummoned after the next shift of your local police precient then home owners stay by the violators car and right after the second ticket is issued the home owner removes the ticket from the windsheild and takes it to his home and waits for the tow company to arrive then hands it to the tow driver himself. This practice is totally at your own risk but sometimes one has to do what one has to do. I myself prefer to leave notes on their windshield before fighting fire with fire. Finding a parking space in Brooklyn is rapidly becoming a major problem in this Borough . I think we as neighbors should get to know eachother and grow from one to another. Hopefully neighborhoods can respect one another
